Hi, I’m Joko
I have spent more than 27 years in death care as a funeral director, embalmer, cemetery manager, cemetery broker, crematory manager, death doula, grief support specialist, writer, speaker and ceremonialist. In 2005, I became a certified Celebrant through the InSight Institute, and soon after, I understood that telling people’s stories was one of the truest uses of my life. Since then, I have helped thousands of families navigate death, dying and bereavement, and have written and officiated over 100 funerals and ceremonies.
My work now centers on legacy recording, end-of-life support, and helping people live with more intention before they die.
I believe we live better when we decide who we want to be, name what we value, and make choices aligned with the legacy we hope to leave behind.
When we know what matters, we can live toward it on purpose — in our relationships, our rituals, our work, and the way we hope to improve the world. Mourning Space is where I bring all of that together: story, ceremony, grief, legacy and the sacred work of helping people live well and die better.
Live better today.
